Texas State quarterback Brady McBride threw for 443 yards and five touchdowns as the Bobcats snapped a seven-game losing streak, beating Arkansas State 47-45 on Saturday at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos.
Texas State (2-9, 2-5 Sun Belt) trailed by 11 early in the fourth quarter before pulling ahead with 14 unanswered points. Jamal Jones put Arkansas State (3-6, 1-5) back in front 45-41 on a 1-yard touchdown run with less than 2 minutes to play, but Texas State drove 57 yards in just more than a minute, capped by a 7-yard touchdown run from Calvin Hill.
McBride finished 32-of-45 passing and did not throw an interception. Trevis Graham Jr. hauled in two touchdowns, while Marcell Barbee, Jeremiah Haydel and Javen Banks each caught one.
Arkansas State racked up 654 yards of total offense compared to 505 for Texas State.
The win was the first for the Bobcats since Sept. 19.
