Antonian junior guard Gavino Ramos scored 28 points in a win over St. Mary’s Hall on Tuesday to eclipse the 2,000-point mark on his career. With the win, the Apaches secured their second-consecutive TAPPS District 3-6A championship.

3:

District 28-6A has a three-way tie atop the boys basketball standings between Brandeis, Warren and O’Connor with just two games remaining in the regular season. The teams have a combined 72-15 record and the Broncos currently hold the tiebreaker over the Warriors, but have split their games with the Panthers. Warren and O’Connor meet in the final game of the season at 5 p.m. Feb. 18.

35: The Veteran’s Memorial girls soccer team has outscored its opponents 35-2 over its last seven games, posting a shutout in six of those wins.

14: The Southwest boys soccer team improved to a perfect 14-0 with a 3-0 win against Eagle Pass Winn on Tuesday, marking the 10th shutout of the season for the Dragons.

 The U.I.L. Swimming and Diving State Meet begins at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin. San Antonio teams will be well-represented at the event, with Churchill’s Samuel Player set to contend for a top-3 finish in the boys 100 and 200-meter freestyles and Steele’s Evelyn Bruner looking for another strong performance after winning the girls 100 and 200-meter freestyles at the regional event.

 Track season officially began this week with various meets around the area, including East Central 8 and Harlandale 8, which both started Wednesday, and North East 8, Northside 8 and the Judson ISD Relays all which began Thursday.
